Artist connects coasts via the Web

Los Angeles—Based in Los Angeles but also operating from New York, artist Shannon Fincke began realizing the need for a strong Internet presence in mid-2002 as more and more interested parties started requesting a Web site address from her as part of her contact information. In fact, when talking with gallery owners and other artists, Fincke was beginning to see a Web site as something which was expected of her, both in terms of a vehicle to showcase her work and as a promotional tool which would convey her style and artistic approach through its design and functionality.

A unique project in that the look and feel of Fincke's Web site (www.shannonfincke.com) would need to mirror her artwork, the creation of the Shannon Fincke Web site included a number of phases which led Sire Advertising to the finalization of a site which would meet the expectations of the artist; the expectations of Sire Advertising; and, most importantly, the expectations of the artist's audience. Initial home page design first involved the selection of a piece from Fincke's collection which would serve as a showcase painting and also provide the springboard for a style which could be carried over into subsequent site pages. Pulling design elements from Fincke's actual painting and working them into the site's overall structure, Sire created a site foundation which reinforced one of the artist's strongest works, served as an inviting layout structure, and seamlessly worked itself into an effective navigation system. From there, Sire created an easy-to-use gallery section, presented viewers with a considerable amount of background information on the artist and her achievements, and made sure Fincke's contact information was predominantly displayed throughout the site.

With shannonfincke.com now part of her marketing arsenal, Fincke is able to provide galleries, schools, and other organizations with a quick look at her work and accomplishments by simply providing them with a Web site address. Also effective in conveying Fincke's bicoastal work approach, the new site can quickly put interested persons in touch with Fincke through an e-mail or a phone call to either coast.
